Mark 12:24 “for they all gave out of their wealth. But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had.”
Act 11:29 “so the disciples, each in accordance with his financial ability, decided to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.”
Deuteronomy 16:10 “Then you are to celebrate the Festival of Weeks before the Lord your God with the voluntary offering that you will bring, in proportion to how he has blessed you.”
An incident that changed the perspective of John Wesley was when he taught at the University of Oxford. When he had just paid for his paintings for his room, a maid came to the room with shabby clothes, and it was winter. John reached into his pocket to give money to the maid to buy a jacket, but the money is not enough. That was when he began to commit to giving.
At that time his income was £30; he lived with £28, and gave the rest. The following year, his income was £60; he still lived with £28, and donates the rest. The third year, he received £90; he lived with £28, and gave the £62. Similarly, when his income reached £120, even £1400, still he lived with £28, and gave the rest! As income was increasing, John Wesley did not increase the standard of his lifestyle, but his offering.
You need to give according to your income.
Do not let God make your income in accordance with your gift.
